Christ told us to pray for workers in the field because the harvest is plentiful and laborers are few. The older I get the more I can see how true this is. Let us pray for workers, but let us also not put stumbling blocks in the way of those who would serve.

I do not suggest that the standards for clergy be lowered. Heaven forbid! We need men who can face the challenges and do so properly: on their knees.

Let us not, however, add burdens to them. Are you called? Then be tested and once shown to be approved of God, be ordained. God caordained. Are you married? As long as you are only the husband of ONE wife you can be ordained.

For those of us that are already clergy I ask, "are we living the gospel?" If we are not living it in front of the people, we have not earned the right to preach it to the people.

May God send workers into His field, and may He start with us.
